The Young ICT Leaders Award was created by Marc Smith, The Hayesbrook School, in 2006. The idea came about as a result of the lack of student leadership opportunities in ICT. ICT A level students piloted the idea and found the award hugely rewarding. Many of them secured university places based on this extra curricular award. Since then many schools have used the award to reward and recognise leadership in ICT or subjects utilising ICT. The award is currently seeking accreditation and hopes to secure this soon. So this popular award continues to be FREE until then.
